Overview

The CL Sloan Scholarship honors the legacy of Mr. C. L. Sloan by supporting higher education for deserving members of our congregation and community. Awarded annually, this scholarship empowers students pursuing college, university, or vocational training.

Giving Deadline This Year May 18, 2025

Giving is accepted year-round, however, the official campaign with recipients is until May 18th.

CL SLOAN SCHOLARSHIP
FUND

ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Church Involvement: Applicants must be active participants in FBCOPV ministries or programs.

  • Academic Achievement: Minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

  • Leadership & Character: Demonstrated leadership roles and positive community impact.

  • Financial Need: Preference given to applicants with demonstrated financial need.

  • Essay Submission: Reflecting on personal goals and how education will advance both their future and the Kingdom.

TIMELINE & APPLICATION STEPS

Launch Date: September 1

Deadline: October 31

Interviews: November, as needed

Award Announcement: December

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Download the application form below.

  2. Complete all required sections and gather attachments (transcript, essay, reference).

  3. Submit via email to scholarship@fbcopv.org or deliver to the church office by the deadline.

RESOURCES & GUIDANCE

  • Scholarship Committee: Oversees the nomination and selection processes.

  • Academic Advisors: Assist applicants with essay preparation and application review.

  • Finance Team: Includes helpful staff for scholarship fund disbursement and award logistics.
