The First Baptist Church of Progress Village (FBCOPV) will celebrate its 11th Annual Eddie Cook Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the beautiful Bloomingdale Golf Course in Valrico, Florida. We invite you to come and play 18 holes of golf and join in the fun! This event promises to be a day filled with activities you won't want to miss. Our goal is to promote the importance of pursuing higher education and to create excellent networking opportunities for our next generation of scholars. Come and experience the challenges of the golf course while competing for prizes and indulging in some great food.

By supporting the Eddie Cook Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, you and your company will be joining us in the opportunity to pay it forward. We believe that education is the key to producing successful citizens for the future. With your support, we provide two and four-year scholarships to all qualified participants for their entire two (2) or four (4) year college careers. To date, over $100,000 in scholarship assistance has been provided. All proceeds from this great event will benefit the Scholarship Fund. All gifts or monetary donations are tax-deductible (FIN# 59-2879110), and we appreciate your consideration. 

The tournament will be a four-person, best ball scramble.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams, the best-dressed team, and the best-dressed individual, along with raffles and golf contests. A barbecue buffet will be included as part of the registration following the play.

EDDIE COOK GOLF TOURNAMENT

IN MEMORY OF DEACON COOK

This event is being conducted in the memory of Deacon Eddie Cook, a scholar and pioneer in the Progress Village community.  While in Nigeria, West Africa, fulfilling his desire to serve, he gave his life providing  medical and optical care, building clinics, paving roads to health facilities, drilling water wells, and mentoring young children.  Mr. Cook was also a champion in the area of seeking higher education and always at the forefront for giving back what was so dear to his heart.  He completed his undergraduate pharmacy studies at Xavier University and earned his Masters degree in Pharmacy from Florida A&M University.  He completed additional training in Nuclear Pharmacy at Mercer University and was registered as a Nuclear Pharmacist in Lousiana and Florida.
